“Waiting On” Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating.

From Goodreads:
Fans of Sarah Dessen and Huntley Fitzpatrick will enjoy this smart debut young adult novel, equal parts My Life Next Door and The Princess Diaries.

Kate Quinn’s mom died unexpectedly last year, leaving Kate grasping. But when the totally unexpected shows up in her living room, Kate must confront another reality she never thought possible—or thought of at all. Moving in with a politically powerful family she never knew she had, joining a presidential campaign in support of a man she barely knows, and falling for a rebellious boy who may not have the purest motives—this is Kate’s new life. But who is Kate? When what she truly believes flies in the face of the campaign’s talking points, Kate must decide. Does she turn to the family she barely knows, the boy she knows but doesn’t necessarily trust, or face a third, even scarier option?

Set against a backdrop of politics and family conflict, this is a story of personal responsibility, delicious, complicated romance, and trying to discover who you are even as everyone tells you who you should be.

Why I'm Waiting:
I have been burned by comparisons to Sarah Dessen in the past, but this one looks really promising.  Plus it's from a debut author, and I do love reading books from debut authors.

Top Ten Twelve Authors I Own The Most Books From

I have to go with 12 since I have a glut of authors tied at 7.  This is actually harder than it would appear.  There are a few I own a ton of books from, and others who are my favorites, who I own everything they've written, but they just haven't written that much.  Here is what I have though.  I am including both ARCs, paperbacks, hardbacks, and ebooks.  I am excluding short stories and compilations that they have been part of. I am also limiting it to YA books.  If we were doing adult or NA books, this would be a whole different list.

12 Books! I haven't read all of them, but I have almost the entire Gossip Girl and It Girl series.  Nothing else though, but those books alone push her high.

10 Books!  No surprise there, she is absolutely my favorite author.  I think I discovered I am missing one, which I will have to rectify.  They are all signed too.

9 Books!  No surprise here either.  She is probably my second favorite author.  Without shame I plunked down a bag of her books to have them signed during one of her tours.  She was a big sport and signed them all.

9 Books! I am lumping all her books I own by her, since she is only one author.  I have actually read pretty much everything she's written, I have just been using my library card to do it.

8 Books! Amazon put all her books on sale at one point, so I got them all.  Otherwise she doesn't show up on this list.  I still have a bunch to read though.

And here is my glut of authors with 7 books:

Some of these surprised me, and she is one.  I feel like I own so many, and have only read a few. Those I have read, I have enjoyed.

Another one that kind of surprised me.  I have read a ton from the library, I just didn't realize I had bought so many too.

True, it's more children's than YA, but I own all the Harry Potter books.  I'm ready for her to move on from her adult books and come back to children's.

I haven't read any of them.  It's so sad.  I hope to get to at least one this year.

LOVE HER.  I am actually surprised I don't own more, give me time.

This was one that surprised me since I've only read one of her books. At some point I'll read more.

I have read many more than I've bought.  I just check them out from the library. I was so happy when Amazon put the entire Vampire Academy series on sale, that's why I own so many.

What I'm Reading Next:

I won't get to both of these, I'm waiting on the first one from the library.  If it gets in before I'm ready for my next book, I'll read it next, otherwise I will skip to Panic.

Top Ten Seven Characters I Would Want With Me On A Deserted Island

Cole Holland

Who wouldn't want some tough, useful eye candy on an island with them?

Sydney Sage

Linh Cinder

She fixes things.  Maybe she can fix a way off the island.

Mara Dyer

We still don't know what her deal is, but one of the things she has shown is the ability to decimate and kill large swaths of things.  Stick her in the ocean let her go, and get some good grub.

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2767052-the-hunger-games
Katniss Everdeen

The conversation would be terrible, but I certainly wouldn't starve.

Hermione Granger

Why wouldn't she be on all lists?  Of course if you're with her, would you actually be stuck on an island?  She can conjurer up all kinds of food, and whatever else you need.  although she is way down here, she is actually number one on my list.

Dexter Jones

Funny, talented, cute, and so much more.  He is my ultimate book boyfriend. I would want to be on a deserted island just to have an excuse to hang out with him.

Top Ten Favorite Movies or TV Shows

I am going with all time here, since I don't watch much TV right now.  I don't do as much reading either, so I'm not sure where my time is going.  Narrowing this down was HARD.  I think it's also telling that many of these were based on books.

Top 5 TV Shows

Yes, I'm still the person who watches this show.  I have loved it since the beginning, and I love it still.  Even when it drives me nuts.

I love the stories, the actors, and just about everything about this series.

So much of this show is now ingrained into American life and vocabulary.  The influence of this show is endless.  And it's hilarious.

There were some bad episodes, but in general, I adore this show.  The show is a giant love letter to NYC, one of my favorite cities in the world.

I am combining these because they had a lot of similarities, although they were both totally unique.  I love them equally, so I couldn't pick one over the other.  If you want your shows gritty and real, check these out.  Also I highly encourage reading Homicide: A Year on the Killing Streets.  Amazing.

Top 5 movies

Looking at this list, clearly, I like movies from the 90's.  Little Mermaid revolutionized Disney movies, but this one took my heart.  The animation during the ball room dance scene, particularly the "shot" from above, was nothing short of amazing.

I quote this movie on a regular basis STILL.  I almost died laughing the first time I saw it.

This was a REALLY good year for movies.  This is another one that is particularly quotable.  I also loved how well the story lines were weaved together.

You know those movies that are on TV so much that you just have to stop and watch, no matter how many times you've seen it?  This is my movie.  The book of short stories by Stephen King which it's based on is equally as memorable.

I don't know why I love this movie so much but I do.  The best part is that for something that was so trendy it has totally stood the test of time.  I still want to wear 1/2 of Cher's outfits.  Love this movie.
